Pastrnak Leads Bruins to Win in Four Goal Performance
10/15/19 By Jenna Kase
At 4-1, the Boston Bruins are off to one of their best starts in recent memory. The team kept it going Monday afternoon against the Anaheim Ducks. The Bruins beat the Ducks 4-2 behind David Pastrnak’s four goals. The four goals tied the Bruins all-time record for goals in a single game.
The Bruins tested their power play right off the bat when a slashing call was made against Anaheim’s Michael Del Zotto with only 4:10 gone by in the first period. Following a failed clearance attempt out of the Anaheim zone, the puck landed right on the stick of Torey Krug. Krug slotted the puck centrally for Patrice Bergeron who dished it out wide for Pastrnak to hit a clean one timer from the left faceoff circle.
There were no offensive breakdowns for Boston as the game went on. At 11:38 in the second period, Marchand and Pastrnak capitalized on a crucial defensive error from Hampus Lindholm, when an attempt to clear the zone ended up right on Marchand’s stick and created a 2-on-1 chance for the B’s. Marchand played the puck across to Pastrnak who beat Ryan Gibson past the left pad.
After four consecutive Anaheim icings in the third period, Pastrnak was able to net his third and secure a hat trick from a faceoff in the Anaheim zone. The puck deflected off the skate of Josh Manson and landed right of Pastrnak’s stick as he was able to knock it in for the fifth hat trick of his career.
Less than three minutes later, Pastrnak struck again. On the Bruins second power play of the game, Pastrnak worked the puck loose from a scramble in the corner and out to Krug. Krug knocked it out wide to Marchand who slotted the puck across the face of the goal and back to Pastrnak for an easy tap-in at 4:34 in the third.
With a two-game winning streak, the Bruins are not showing any signs of letting up as they prepare to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning next at T.D. Garden this Thursday at 7:00 PM.
