The Boston Bruins are gearing up to face the Chicago Blackhawks tonight for the 619th time in history. In 1926, the puck was dropped between the Bruins and the Blackhawks for the first time. 92 years later, the two teams are meeting again for an original six matchup.
After coming off a close 3-2 loss against the Washington Capitals on November 16, the Bruins have been on an eight game winning streak. This season, the Bruins have been riding the success of forwards Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak as Marchand leads the team with 44 points and 26 assists while Pastrnak has found the back of the net 25 times. As of late, the B’s have been firing on all cylinders as there were six different players that posted points in Tuesday night’s matchup against the Hurricanes.
As for the Blackhawks, who are 10-12-5 so far this season, Patrick Kane has been the offensive caliber. Kane leads the Blackhawks in points, assists, and goals with 33 points, 19 assists, and 14 goals. In their last five games, the Blackhawks have only posted one win which came against the Dallas Stars on November 26. Kane netted one while seven different Blackhawks added to the scoresheet in their last win.
The Bruins will look to extend their winning streak to nine games and inch toward the historical franchise-high 14 game winning streak. The puck will drop between the Bruins and Blackhawks at 7:00 PM tonight at TD Garden.
