Sec State Antony Blinken to attend G-7 meeting in Britain, visit Southeast Asia

United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has finalized plans to travel to the United Kingdom for a Group of Seven ministers gathering before taking a tour of Asia. The trip is scheduled to take place between Dec. 9-17 and the itinerary will include countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Blinken will attend the G7 meeting held in the Museum of Liverpool and have talks with countries including Australia and South Korea.

The talks will include a variety of topics including the state of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the surge of Russian troops across the Ukraine border and as well as massive growth of infrastructure seen in the Indo-Pacific region despite the pandemic.

After the conclusion of the meeting, Blinken will make his way to Asia and meet with representatives of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand and discuss issues in the area, namely the growing situation in Myanmar. His last stop on the tour will be in Honolulu, Hawaii to meet up with the INDOPACOM Commander Admiral John Aquilino.
