One person died and at least 13 others were injured in a shooting during a vigil in Houston where 50 people gathered. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez the deceased was identified as a woman in her mid-20s. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Gonzalez tweeted early on Monday saying that the other victims have “serious gunshot wound injuries.”
The vigil was being held at a food trailer venue in honor of a recent homicide victim who was killed at his home in Baytown a couple weeks ago. Sheriff Gonzalez said that just as the group was releasing balloons as a celebration of life, the suspect drove by in a small dark-colored sedan and opened fire on the crowd.
While they know the description of the vehicle, police do not have any information about possible suspects yet.
