The New England Patriots signed former CFL offensive lineman Drew Desjarlais to a futures contract on Jan 27. The signing comes after Desjarlais was released by the Blue Bombers on Tuesday, January 25, to allow him to persure a contract in the National Football League.

The NFL transaction and the Patriots confirmed the signing of the former first-round-pick Canadian Football League (CFL) player.

Desjarlais, age 24, was drafted by the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers 4th overall in the 2019 draft out of the Canadian university Windsor.

According to Global News, Desjarlais was released by the Blue Bombers on Tuesday, January 25, to allow him to persure a contract in the National Football League. The 6-foot-2, 313-pounder, attended mini camps for the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Desjarlais is the next addition to reserved and futures contracts by the Patriots. On Thursday, January 20, they signed DL Daniel Ekuale. They also signed LB Harvey Langi to a one-year contract extension last week.
