Both of the recipients of the Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year were players for the New York Jets

Wide receiver Garret Wilson won the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award edging out Kenneth Walker of the Seahawks and Brock Burdy of the 49ers. Wilson led the rookie class of wide receivers in receiving yards, 1,103; receptions, 83; and targets, 147.

Defensive Rookie of the Year went to cornerback Sauce Gardner. Gardner’s 2 interceptions and 20 pass breakups, the highest in the league, Seahawks’ Tariq Woolen and Lions’ Aiden Hutchinson.

The Jets have not had a winning season since 2015 and haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010. With young and elite players on the roster, this is an interesting time for the future of the Jets franchise.
