Pop singer Kelly Clarkson hosted the 2023 NFL Honors on Thursday night. The award show took place inside Symphony Music Hall in Phoenix, Arizona.

Clarkson represented her favorite team with a gown made entirely from Dallas Cowboy football jerseys. “I promise tonight, though, I won’t let my allegiance to Dallas get in the way of a fair and unbiased show celebrating this great NFL season and Sunday’s Super Bowl,” said Clarkson.

The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer didn’t shy away from roasting some of the NFL’s most popular players. Right away, referencing the San Francisco 49ers’ devastating playoff loss saying, “I thought you were supposed to have enough quarterbacks for like the whole game.”

Clarkson also mentioned Tom Brady’s recent retirement announcement. She thanked Brady for his contributions to the NFL, but made sure he knew his place, saying, “It’s the end of an era and, Tom Brady, I wish you nothing but fabulous success in whatever you choose to do man. You’re incredible. Unless it’s a daytime talk show.”

The running joke of the night was that Clarkson wasn’t too familiar with football. That’s why she sat down with former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to learn more about the sport. The two had a hilarious interaction and added an exciting element of surprise to the show.

However, the “Stronger” singer wasn’t the only one roasting people. Various NFL players sang their versions of Kelly Clarkson’s hit songs throughout the night. Then, Clarkson gave fans what they had been waiting for – a rendition of “Since You’ve Been Gone” as a tribute to Tom Brady. She joked about his retirement and even the recent thirst trap photo he posted on his Instagram.
