GAMEDAY PREVIEW OF SUPER BOWL 57
2/12/23
By: Cam Manning
The day is finally here. Super Bowl 57 between the AFC’s number 1 seed Kansas Chiefs and the NFC’s number 1 seed Philadelphia Eagles. Some things you need to know before the big game.
The Chiefs finished the season with an overall record of 16-3 (beating the Jags, and Bengals in the playoffs).
The Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 16-3 (beating the Giants and the 49ers in the playoffs).
The Chiefs scored a total of 546 points this season.
The Eagles scored a total of 546 points this season.
Each team has 6 All-Pro, including their starting Quarterback and a Kelce brother.
Both teams finished number 1 in their respective conferences.
History will be made today, no matter the outcome, as this is the first Super Bowl where we have two starting black quarterbacks (Mahomes vs. Hurts).
Keep an eye out for the war in the trenches as both lines for both teams have held up very well all season long. The Eagle’s defensive line has had a historic regular season totaling a combined 70 team sacks, and they are the first team in NFL history to have 4+ players with more than 10+ sacks during the season.
Also, keep an eye out for Patrick Mahomes in the pocket and his mobility in this one. Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars and has been battling some pain. The extra week off has to be beneficial for this Chiefs team as everyone on the squad is a go for the game.
The Eagles had one lone player (WR Britain Covey) questionable with a hamstring injury heading into the Super Bowl; everyone else is a go. This will also be Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts first SB appearance. On the other hand, this is the third time in the past four seasons Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has appeared in the big game, so keep an eye out to see if experience plays a role in this one.
Two heavyweight teams that have been at the top of their game all season long one will prevail, and one will go home. Super Bowl 57 kickoff is at 6:30 PM ET.
