BOSTON – Kobe Bryant’s family has reached an agreement with Los Angeles County on a $28.5 million settlement for deputies and firefighters sharing graphic photos of the former NBA superstar and others killed in the tragic 2020 helicopter crash. This new agreement includes a $13.5 million payment from the county and $15 million awarded to Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s widow.
“Today marks the successful culmination of Mrs. Bryant’s courageous battle to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct,” Luis Li, Bryant’s attorney, announced in a statement. LA County representative Mira Hashmall also wished the Bryants well, stating, “We hope Ms. Bryant and her children continue to heal from their loss.”
Kobe Bryant, recognized as one of the best basketball players in the history of the NBA, continues to impact the game today. Following the NBA All-Star game, the MVP of the game was awarded the Kobe Bryant MVP Award, further signaling the impact he still has on the game. His family hopes his legacy continues to live on post-settlement.
