Author Marianne Williamson announced her 2024 presidential campaign on March 4. She is a member of the Democratic party. Williamson is a self-help book author and public speaker. Her previous political experience includes an unsuccessful 2020 bid for the presidency.
Williamson is a Houston, Texas native. Her major policy beliefs include universal healthcare, tuition-free higher education, and a higher minimum wage, according to her website.
Though her top donors are currently not public, contributors to her 2020 presidential campaign included the University of California, the state of California, and the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs.
Her campaign reported $270,000 in unpaid debts as it urges volunteer staffers to bring in more donation money. Former staffers reported that her candidacy is a “grift” in order to help sales of her books.
Williamson currently polls at 10%, according to a report from Politico, which is higher than she polled in 2020.
