Election 2024: President Joe Biden Candidate Profile
By Sofia Mendes
President Joe Biden announced his 2024 campaign for re-election in a video announcement on April 25. His announcement came on the four-year anniversary of his 2020 campaign announcement. In his re-election announcement video, Biden states that the “battle for the soul of America” is not over yet. He states, “Let’s finish the job.”
Prior to the presidency, Biden served as a United States Senator for 36 years and later as Vice President of the United States under former President Barack Obama. Should Biden win the 2024 presidential election, he would continue his run as America’s oldest president for an additional four years. Biden will be on the democrat ballot.
Age has been a concern shared even by members of the Democratic party. However, Biden has still earned the endorsement of notable Democrats including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Biden is combating concern regarding his age by campaigning on a platform focused on his experience and policy creation.
