Security officer killed at New Hampshire Hospital

11/18/23 By Parker Garlough

A person opened fire at New Hampshire Hospital, New Hampshire’s only state-run psychiatric facility, on Friday, resulting in the death of 63-year-old security officer Bradley Haas.

Haas was a Franklin police officer for 28 years and had been a military police officer for three years. Franklin Police Chief David Goldstein described him as a “gentleman.”

A state trooper at the facility shot and killed the suspect. The name of the state trooper has not yet been released, and the suspect has not yet been identified.

Many police officers and state troopers arrived on the scene immediately after the incident and remained there for hours afterward. One hospital employee reported being uninformed regarding the situation: his employer did not alert him to the shooting for multiple hours, and he instead learned about it from local news reports.
