On St. Patrick’s Day, a protest was held outside of a North End restaurant. The restaurant was hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day breakfast when the protest started. The protest was held against the outdoor eating area restrictions. The St. Patrick’s Day breakfast is a tradition that vastly includes self-deprecating jokes, roasts, and jabs at each other.

Dozens of staff gathered outside the Ironworkers Local 7 Hall in South Boston. A band followed  the protesters as they held up signs with “St. Patrick was Italian” and “We are one city, North  End included.” Going from Italian ancestry to his Roman parents.

The restaurant owner said the lawsuits that included 21 restaurants and even the North End were a part of it from January. Having the city not be able to admit permits to the restaurants in busy neighborhoods. The lawsuit sets up being reimbursed for $7,500 to be given to the neighborhood. This reimbursement was paid in 2022.

What was once a tradition for Boston goers has become a legal pursuit. The lawsuit continues at this current time.
