Students gathered at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse in support of those arrested in the Boylston Place alley last night. The Office of the Clerk Magistrate did not have paperwork or information on how many cases were being heard at Boston Municipal Court, but said trial dates were being moved to later.

Standing outside of the courtroom, sophomore Grey Cunningham gave their account of the arrests from this morning.

“I watched a friend of mine who got arrested, with her hands up, tackled by four police officers,” Cunningham said. “Their head was slammed against the concrete. I saw a student pressed up directly against the Norman Lear statue. I saw blood in the alleyway, there was also blood on the handrails of the 2B alley entrance.”

Cunningham said they saw two students ask to stand up to be taken into custody, but were then pushed to the ground and carried away by officers.

“And most of all, I just saw a lot of people not resisting arrest who were beaten with batons, kicked, pushed over, or just generally had excessive force used against them.”

108 protestors were arrested and taken to different precincts across the city. In an email to students, President Jay Bernhardt said “Emerson officials were at the police precincts and courthouses with the arrested students, and the College will receive them back on campus when they are released.”
