Lebron and Bronny James Already Prepping for Historic Upcoming Season
By Alexandria Evans
Lebron James and his son, Bronny James, are set to become the first father-son duo in the NBA league after Los Angeles drafted Bronny in the second round of the NBA Draft after just one year at USC.
The duo have been participating in scrimmages during voluntary practices, where coaches and players have been able to get a glimpse of their dynamic.
Though it has not been officially confirmed, rumors have circulated indicating that Bronny’s first season will be spent improving his craft in the G League. However, new Lakers head coach, JJ Redick, spoke about how or when the rookie will make his debut on Zach Lowe’s “The Lowe Post” podcast, stating, “we’ve talked about it, and we’ve thought about it, and we’ll get it done.”
Though NBA fans and pundits alike are eager to see Bronny lace up alongside his father, having him start in the G League may be the safer, more reasonable approach. During his lone season at USC, the 6’4 guard averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals. Those aren’t exactly league-ready numbers; however, he has the potential to improve his skills starting his season with the South Bay Lakers.
For now, the Lakers will focus on developing their confirmed starting five: D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, LeBron James, Austin Reaves and Anthony Davis, as well as preparing former NBA player, JJ Redick for leading a team.
The Lakers regular season kicks off in just under a month, on October 22, against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
