Harris needs to change her closing message inching closer to the election

Vice President Kamala Harris today is being warned by progressive Democrats of what she needs to change in her closing message with the election in 10 days. Harris is being told that she is risking the loss of support of a small but major portion of her political foundation because of the closing message of her campaign.

Several progressive leaders are pointing to the fact that Harris has been too focused on moderate Republican ideals when she should be looking to more liberal ideals. Harris’s closing message is mainly centered on former President Donald Trump’s threat to democracy and completely ignoring the economic struggle of the American working class.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is one of many who has been turned off by the messages Harris has shared over the last few days.

“The truth of the matter is that there is a hell of a lot more working-class people who could vote for Kamala Harris than there are conservative Republicans,” said Sanders

According to Boston.com, Harris is trying to assemble a wide group of voting individuals that creates conflicting priorities. By relying on the “traditional Democratic base”, she is lessening her opportunity to expand who is voting for her.

Harris has acknowledged– during a CNN town hall– that this week has left some progressives unhappy with her leadership.

“But I also know that for many people who care about this issue, they also care about bringing down the price of groceries,” said Harris. “They also care about our democracy and not having a president of the United States who admires dictators and is a fascist.”

According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, as of October 25, Vice President Kamala Harris is leading in the polls by 1% against former President Donald Trump.
