Tyler, The Creator surprised his Boston fans with a pop-up concert

A surprise concert from Tyler, The Creator, came to Boston on Thursday afternoon at Lovejoy Wharf. 

The singer, who also is a record producer, fashion designer, director and leads his own independent record label, performed on top of the roof of the Converse Flagship Store wearing a merchandise set from his new album, “Chromakopia.” 

The shipping container of the shoe shop, on which Tyler, The Creator stood, was painted green, the album’s title displayed in black letters. During the concert, he wore a green outfit and a mask, which he took off, while performing the song “Take Your Mask Off.”

His new album was released on Monday, Oct. 28, with songs that were all produced, written and arranged by him. Since then, his song “Noid” has already reached No. 6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, according to Billboard.com

“Don’t be late. Show will start on the dot” said the Instagram post shared on his social media that announced the show. The concert, scheduled for 3 p.m., was announced on the same day.

Although the initial price of the tickets was $5, most fans bought theirs at a resale price. According to Boston.com, many people were gathered outside the venue and near the Lovejoy Wharf in order to get tickets.
