A Boston man was arrested yesterday after authorities found a connection to a brush fire in Milford.

The man is 28-year-old Devonte Johnson from Dorchester. He was arrested for a fire near West Street after police received calls about a fire in the area a little before 9 a.m. After a short pursuit, Johnson was arrested.

According to CBS News, Johnson has been charged with “setting fire to another’s land, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and more.” His bail is set at $1,500.

Across the state, firefighters have been combating brush fires since October 26, with approximately 100 fires burning over 400 acres of Massachusetts.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. because of dry conditions and wind. Massachusetts is now experiencing a severe drought with very little rain in the forecast.

Crews are monitoring potential hot spots and embers. If you see a fire, they ask you to call 911.
