President Joe Biden yesterday arrived in Peru for a six-day visit, the last major international summit of his term as president. World leaders are turning their attention to Donald Trump’s return to the White House and what it will mean for their countries.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru, stops in the Amazon rainforest, and the group of 20 leaders meeting in Brazil are giving Biden a chance as president to meet with the leaders he has worked with over the years.
However, these leaders are in communication with Trump, giving congratulations for his win. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is waiting for the “chance to bond with golf-love Trump should [it] present itself,” according to AP News.
White House officials are pushing Biden’s visit as substantive, “with talks on climate issues, global infrastructure, counternarcotic efforts, and one-on-one meetings with global leaders,” according to AP News.
President Joe Biden will be succeeded by President-elect Donald Trump in January 2025.
