Amanda “Mandy” Cordero was born and raised in Williamsburg, New York. She is currently a sophomore journalism student at Emerson College. She was the editor for her high school newspaper, The Brooklyn Latineer and is now a writer/anchor for Boston’s WEBN TV’s environmental segment. She has also worked as a set photographer for several films. She has a passion for news production and enjoys working with Final Cut Pro, SoundSlides, Audacity and Adobe Photoshop. Some of her past stories include a feature on a former Red Light District sex worker, a travel piece about Rome, a broadcast piece on a Muslim protest in London, etc. She has also followed the Occupy Boston movement very closely and has written several articles on it. She hopes to one day follow in the footsteps of her role model, Soledad O’Brien, and make documentary films focusing on minority issues in America.
