By Justine Frostad — 11/02/09
Chocolate is going green. Kraft Foods is using sustainable cocoa farming for its premium dark chocolate production. The company will employ only farms approved by the conservation organization, Rainforest Alliance. Its certification is based on ecological, social, and economic criteria. Kraft will be the first mainstream chocolate certified by the Rainforest Alliance. The sustainable sweet will debut in France and Belgium.
