Latex is the Newest Fashion Trend

Latex is hitting the streets of Boston. Dawn Mostow is the creator of Dawnamatrix Designs. Tuesday night she showcased 12 pieces of her line at the Latex Haute Couture Fashion Show for Boston Fashion Week. Darryl’s Corner Bar and Kitchen hosted the event. Each piece in her collection is custom created with latex material and a Japanese influence.
Mostow spent 3 years in Takayama City, Japan studying the art of kimonos while teaching English to an all-male school. Her passion for fashion began prior to her trip but the latex trend started with her studies of the kimono. Mostow found out how to manipulate the rubber material into a wearable art.
From her undergraduate studies at Pratt Institute in New York City, Mostow has been trained in graphic design. The pieces in the Dawnamatrix line are a representation of all her passions and skills combined. Her kimonos are a modern form-fitting version of the traditional gown. The first latex piece she designed was the “Rising Sun Kimono.” It is a short white latex kimono with short sleeves and flower detailed on the inner sleeves and a rising red sun on the other sleeves. The gorgeous dress is a representation of the entire line.
Dawnamatrix is not only made up of kimonos, Mostow also designs accessories, belts, dresses, tops, and a variety of pieces from historically inspired time periods and cultures. She believes her line can transform the industry by introducing a new trend that takes modern material and changes it into cultured and historic sensual garments.
Mostow is currently doing post-graduate studies at Harvard University in Boston. The newly engaged designer is hoping to continue creating unique pieces with the help of her ringleader and fiancé, Ben Gould.
