The Giants defensive line doesn’t care what the Patriots do or say. The players’ focus is on execution.
Giants defensive end Justin Tuck believes his teammates are invincible if they cling to the fundamentals. “As long as we play our game, we can beat anybody,” said Tuck.
That anybody is the New England Patriots led by three-time Super Bowl winner and quarterback Tom Brady. If the Patriots win on Sunday, Brady would surpass Joe Montana for the most playoff wins all time.
This morning at Lucas Oil Stadium, Tuck told reporters that he didn’t “want to make this all about Tom Brady versus the Giants defensive line.” He said the team would have to play its best on offense, defense, and special teams to beat a team like the Patriots. He insisted that “it’s all about the team.”
During a regular season victory, the Giants sacked Brady twice and hit him three times. Brady told reporters this time around the Patriots can only hope to slow down the Giants defensive line.
“They rotate a bunch of guys in there that are fresh and ready to go and ready to try and take my head off…. so I’m going to try and not let that happen,” said Brady.
Giant’s defensive end Osi Umenyiora wants Sunday’s game to make a statement. “The only thing we need to prove is we are who we say we are,” said Umenyiora.
Umenyiora and the Giants are looking to deter Brady from making history this Sunday in Indianapolis. A win for the Giants would mark their second Super Bowl victory in five years.
