Joshua Radin was radiant at the Orpheum Theatre. Radin casually took the stage and proceeded to captivate his audience with his endearing voice, heartfelt lyrics, and flawless guitar playing. Alternative pop singer Alison Sudol aka A Fine Frenzy and artist Sarah Jarosz opened for Radin.

Many artists find different ways to make their entrance ontothe stage remarkable. But, what fans didn’t expect was when Radin unplugged the entire sound system and projected his voice into the spacious theatre. First, the crowd went wild with excitement and then immediately went quiet asRadin sang a verse.

“Brand New Day” was the singer-songwriter’s second song. It had the crowd swaying and rhythmically clapping to his wonderful orchestral set-up. Radin was joined on stage by a band consisting of talented men from all over the globefrom Monaco to Ohio. Radin has phenomenal charm and stage presence, and his wit is a marvel in itself.

Joshua Radin performed a few tracks from his new album Underwater. Some of his songs included “Tomorrow is Going to Be Better,” “Let It Go,” and the title track, “Underwater.” Each of his songs dealt with his personal life, ranging from fears, break-ups, encouragement, love, and even rain.

Halfway through the concert Radin had his fans stand up and sing the chorus of “The One with Light.” It’s rare to have this kind of audience-performer interaction, it was a highlight of Radin’s performance. The singer-songwriter was just as excited as his audience, saying, “Now this is a concert! Gotta love Boston!”

Radin’s set was well-balanced as he mixed ballads and up-tempo tracks. This helped maintain the audience’s attention. He also performed what he called “the most romantic song he has written.” “I’d Rather Be with You” was definitely a fan favorite.

Radin ended the concert with an acoustic performance with one of the first songs he wrote, “Cry.” The artist’s tour continues with dates in Texas and will finish with a show at the historic Wiltern in Los Angeles.
