Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is looking forward to Inauguration Weekend.

The Governor arrived in Washington today and is spending time
with friends and family before the big day on Monday.

While in D.C. he told WEBN Boston that he wants to “have some fun, celebrate a moment in history and a moment of personal pride and join in the President’s new and fresh resolve to move the country forward.”

Patrick thinks the biggest obstacle in President Obama’s second term is “us.”

“The President has a very clear vision about growing opportunity and jobs, some bold initiatives around gun safety and immigration reform which are all enormously important,” he explained. He thinks citizens should “understand what’s [the President] is trying to do and help him.”

The Governor believes that the ceremony on Capitol Hill is a blend of the old and new.

“I really do find the ritual of the swearing in quite moving,” he said. “There’s some parts of it that are common to every single Inauguration since the beginning, short and important. But there’s some other parts of it like having Beyonce sing the national anthem which are pretty unique.”
