The MBTA is going to provide limited bus and subway service this afternoon.

Beginning at 2 P.M., there will be limited service on the Orange and Red Lines, the Blue Line between Orient Heights and Government Center, and the Green Line between Kenmore and Lechmere.  Bus routes 1, 23, 28 and 39 will run limited service and the Silver Line will operate on Washington Street only.

The MBTA is encouraging passengers to stay home and use the service sparingly.

Full service is expected to resume at the start of service tomorrow.

“Customers should expect significant delays and plan extra time for their Monday morning commute as MBTA service recovers from the impacts of the storm” an MBTA statement reads.  “Due to significant snow accumulations, customers are encouraged to use caution at station platforms and bus stops.”

Bus routes will operate on snow routes because snow and ice are continuing to impact the roads and bus stops. Commuter rail service remains suspended today while crews work to clear the tracks. Service is expected to resume at the start of service tomorrow.

“The MBTA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we recover from the effects of this storm,” the statement reads.

The MBTA suspended service Friday afternoon and has been working to bring it back.
