Launch Lens

Today at the W Hotel in downtown Boston the Launch Lens event kicked off Boston Fashion Week.  The event celebrated recent graduates of design schools in Massachusetts.

Boston Fashionistas came to support many of Boston’s up and coming fashion designers. While some designers and models are just starting out, veteran photographers like Demonica Bray came to check out the event.

“Here in Boston I am known as one of the fashion photographers. I work with models, they know me, I know them They’re like my daughter, or sisters, depending on how old they are. So it’s a passion for me.”

The featured designers weren’t only from Boston. There were international fashion leaders such as 23 year old Chinese designer, Sissi Yang.

Miss Yang told WEBN that “This is a big honor for me. I just graduated this year and I am originally from China and I studied here to study fashion design. I did internships for Marc Jacobs and I also went to Paris to learn Au Couture.”

She also gave insight on her new collection, “When I worked in Paris I learned a lot of couture detailing. You can see these garments there is a lot of beading so I incorporated my techniques into these garments.”

The night was a buzz of excitement, giving a small taste of what to expect from Boston Fashion Week.
