NE Patriots Suffer Injuries
By Harrison Rubenstein 10-4-13
The New England Patriots may have started off the season with four straight wins, but have been riddled with injuries over the first quarter of this NFL season.
During the Sept. 29 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Patriots All-Pro defensive tackle Vince Wilfork went down with a ruptured Achilles tendon. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.
This is a huge loss for the Pats since Wilfork is widely considered to be one of the best defensive players in the NFL. On top of that, he is the anchor of the Patriots defense and leader in the huddle.
So now the Patriots will look to undrafted free agent Joe Vellano to take over Wilfork’s spot in the middle of the defense.
Wilfork wasn’t the only Patriot injured last night. Rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson left with a neck injury and starting cornerback Alfonzo Dennard left the game with an undisclosed injury.
