A sinking barge spilled an unknown amount of oil into Boston Harbor two weeks ago. The US Coast Guard stabilized it by placing a makeshift floating dam around the boat. Crews did a cleanup that day.
The ship sank on the harbor’s east coast. It was an unlicensed barge named the Virginia C 2.
