Iran’s interim nuclear agreement is being fine-tuned.

Cooperation on Iran’s nuclear sites takes place over the next six months. President Barack Obama laid his visit for progress out the day the agreement was announced.

“Today, that diplomacy opened up a new path toward a world that is more secure – a future in which we can verify that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and that it cannot build a nuclear weapon,” said President Obama.

Iran’s nuclear program is being monitored and its resources are capped. The country agreed to inspections in exchange for the ability to keep the central elements of its uranium program. The pact tests Iran’s claim that it is not building atomic weapons.

Worldwide economic sanctions against Iran brought about the interim deal. They remain a factor in the next level of negotiations. There are hopes that a permanent agreement will address Iran’s military capacity and lead the country to make further concessions.

Israel remains bitterly opposed to the agreement.
