VanaVain Vintage Trunk Show at Boston Fashion Week

Enter the Forum restaurant and bar, ascend the stairs, and behold, a fashionista’s dream: cocktails, horderves, and the opportunity to be one of the first people to shop exceptional collections of carefully handpicked clothes and jewelry at the VanaVain Vintage Trunk Show. Fashion, food and networking all in one room. What’s there not to love?
Designs ranged from dainty accessories inspired by nature like on designer Emily Robertson’s table, to street clothes glamified in designer Blon-di’s Bondij line. Blon-di sported three tables with her designs of clothes and accessories that look to be right out of an MTV music video. Bondij is a custom design line featuring street clothes with an edge to them. Designer Blon-di gets her inspiration from the current fashions on the street, different fabrics, namely leather, multiple prints and different shaped stud. Even though Blon-di has a passion for fashion, her line is actually not her main job. She has a day job and then works on her designs in her spare time. You might wonder how she manages it all. Her answer, “I just don’t sleep! I probably only get three hours, four hours of sleep a day.” Talk about commitment.
Emily Robertson is the designer of the jewelry line Feral Fawn. Her designs mostly include copper, brass and natural stones. She loves to incorporate nature in her designs. Many of her jewelry pieces feature the print of a dried leaf. She strives to find the balance between delicacy and strength in her pieces. Even though Emily Robertson and Blon-di’s designs could not be more opposite, they have one key quality in common. They both design all of their products themselves and hand make everything on their own, without any help from a team of stylists. Blon-di sews every piece of clothing in her line with her own hands. Robertson hand weaves each piece of jewelry in her collection solo. The fact that the designers can have thriving lines featured at Boston Fashion Week shows hard work and dedication can really pay off.
