One of four Washington state students injured in a high school shooting passed away last night, raising the death toll of victims in the tragedy to two.

Gia Soriano was critically wounded by her freshman classmate, Jaylen Fryberg, when he open fired in the school cafeteria on Friday in Marysville, Washington approximately 34 miles north of Seattle.

Soon after, the Soriano family released the following statement: ‘We are devastated by this senseless tragedy.  Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her. We’ve made the decision to donate Gia’s organs so that others many benefit. Our daughter was loving and kind and this gift honors her life.”

Fryberg shot three of his classmates in the back, two of which were his cousins.  During the shooting, teacher Megan Silberberger intercepted Fryberg stopping him from reloading his gun.  Freyberg used his last bullet to take his own life.

Silberberger requested privacy after the event and has not issued a statement.

Community members are shocked by the event and cannot think of a motive for Fryberg’s actions.  A week before the assault Fryberg was crowned freshman homecoming prince.

Freshman Zoe Galasso died on the scene Friday, and Gia Soriano passed Sunday night at Providence Regional Medical Center.  Victims Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, Andrew Fryberg and Nate Hatch are still hospitalized and in critical condition.
