Pete Carroll Understands Richard Sherman May Miss Super Bowl
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman may actually miss the Super Bowl.
Sherman’s girlfriend, Ashley Moss, is expected give birth to the couple’s first child in early February. If Moss goes into labor on Super Bowl Sunday, Sherman has not ruled out the possibility of missing the game in order to witness the birth of their son.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said (says) he understands situations arise where players may have to miss some time.
“That’s up to Richard,” says Carroll. “He knows that he has to face a big decision. Whenever any of our players have a personal or family issue that comes up, it’s always about family first and what’s best for them, and I support them.”
Sherman has established himself as one of the game’s premier cornerbacks, with the ability to shut down any receiver given the challenge of going up against him.
He is currently the only player to intercept multiple passes in the postseason and is the outspoken leader of Seattle’s infamous “Legion of Boom” secondary.
Whatever happens with Sherman, Carroll said he’s just looking forward to meeting the baby.
“I wish him luck and I can’t wait to see little Petey,” Carroll said.
