The NFL broke records again this Sunday when the Patriots beat the Seahawks in the 49th Super Bowl. The much-anticipated game was played in the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The East Coast vs. West Coast game exceeded last year’s Super Bowl by 2.2 million. In addition to being the most-watched Super Bowl yet, it was the most watched show in US television history.

The halftime show brought in 118.5 million viewers. It featured Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, and a surprise appearance from Missy Elliott.

Missy Elliott saw a rise in iTunes sales thanks to the show. All three songs she performed catapulted back onto the iTunes charts.

The final segment of the game had the most viewers, peaking at 120.8 million. Fans and players alike had strong reactions to the final score of 28-24; a fight broke out between players at a crucial final moment of the game.

This Super Bowl didn’t just fare well in terms of viewers. It also received the highest Super Bowl ratings since Super Bowl XX. It was the fourth highest rated Super Bowl ever.

The Super Bowl has been on an upward trend for the past few years, and it’s predicted to continue. Next year’s fiftieth Super Bowl is set for February 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
