Aaron Hernandez Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

After almost 36 hours of deliberation, former New England Patriots Player Aaron Hernandez has been sentenced this morning to life in prison without parole for his conviction of first-degree murder.

Hernandez was on trial for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd whose body was found in a Massachusetts industrial park near Hernandez’s home in June 2013.

The 25-year-old never had a change in face expression while the jury forewoman announced him guilty of killing Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old amateur weekend football player and former friend of Hernandez.

The first-degree murder sentence, is a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole and automatically triggers an appeal to Massachusetts’ highest court.

Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fianc?. Both Hernandez’s mother, Terri and Hernandez’s fianc?, Shayanna Jenkins were present during the announcement and wept while Hernandez mouthed “Be strong, It’s OK.”

The Suffolk County, Massachusetts, district attorney Jake Wark confirmed that the May 28th start of another trial that Hernandez faced on two other murder counts tied to an incident in 2012, has been moved. Wark expects that the trial will be rescheduled “in the coming days.”
