Mayor Marty Walsh Speaks at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation

The mayor discussed the My Brother’s Keeper initiative alongside prominent politicians such as Congresswoman Fredericka Wilson and other well-known faces such as Soledad O’Brien.
My Brother’s Keeper is a national initiative launched by President Barack Obama in 2014 to address the opportunity gaps that boys and young men of color face.
Walsh and the city of Boston joined MBK in September 2014, with a focus on jobs, education, and violence reduction.
Mayor Walsh said during the panel that he wants Boston to lead the nation in the MBK initiative by redesigning schools, broadening advanced work classes, and giving former prisoners a reentry into society.
Walsh vowed to keep My Brother’s Keeper moving after President Obama leaves office.
