Melania says Trump was “egged on”

Melania Trump has asserted that recent allegations of sexual assault against her husband are false, and dismissed his comments on a leaked tape from 2005 where he explicitly describes groping and kissing women without their consent as “boy talk.” Mrs. Trump said that she had never heard her husband speak that way, and that he was “led on – like, egged on – from the host, to say dirty and bad stuff.”
Mrs. Trump also brought the integrity of the news media and her husband’s accusers into question, saying “This was all organized from the opposition. And with the details… did they ever check the background of these women? They don’t have any facts.”
Mrs. Trump specifically accused Natasha Stoynoff, who wrote a first hand account of being forcibly kissed by Trump in People Magazine, of fabricating the encounter and lying about meeting Mrs. Trump on the street in NYC afterwards. “She wrote in the same story about me — that she saw me on 5th Avenue, and I said to her, ‘Natasha, how come we don’t see you anymore?’ I was never friends with her, I would not recognize her.”
Mrs. Trump went on to defend Trump’s remarks toward his accusers, saying that “ I know he respects women. But he’s defending himself because they are lies.” She stated that he had apologized to her for his remarks on the tape, and that his remarks were often taken out of context. “He makes a speech 45 minutes long, they take a sentence out, and they’re going on and on about that sentence, nothing else” she said, regarding the many controversial statements Trump has made during his campaign speeches. She concluded by reaffirming her support of her husband and his political platform, and urging people “Don’t feel sorry for me. I can handle everything.”
