Red Sox Beat Yankees, Clinch Division

They are American League East Champions yet again! With a 11-6 win against the Yankees in New York Thursday night, the Red Sox clinched their third consecutive division crown, marking the first time the team has won the division three straight years. The win marked the Red Sox 104th of the season, one win away from the team record set in 1912.
In the fourth inning, Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez loaded the bases giving way to Heath Hembree who allowed a grand slam to Giancarlo Stanton putting the Yanks on top 6-4. It was all Boston the rest of the way. The offense was lead by Mookie Betts who hit a three run homer in the eighth to secure the win.
With the division clinched, the next order of business for the Red Sox will be to clinch the best record in baseball in order to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Sox currently sit eight games up on the Houston Astros for that mark with just 9 games to play. The Red Sox are in line to play the winner of the American League Wild Card Game in the ALDS. As we head into the final week of the regular season, it looks like the Yankees and A’s will meet in the one-game playoff for the right to play the Red Sox.
Boston will play three games in Cleveland before returning home to take on the Orioles at Fenway Park on Monday, opening their final home-stand of the regular season.
