Boston College Advances to Hockey East Final

The Boston College Eagles will play the Northeastern Huskies in the Hockey East championship Saturday at TD Garden.

BC beat the UMass Amherst Minutemen 3-0 Friday night.

David Cotton scored the first of BC’s 3 goals less than 15 seconds into the first period.

The puck hit the twine twice in the third period. Christopher Grando’s goal was assisted by JD Dudek and Casey Fitzgerald. Julius Mattila sealed the deal for BC with an empty-netter.

“It should be an outstanding game tomorrow night,” said BC head coach Jerry York. “Two of the best goaltenders in the country going head-to-head.”

BC goaltender Joseph Woll saved all 36 shots against him.

UMass head coach Greg Carvel said he was disappointed that his Minutemen didn’t play their usual standard.
