A Massachusetts State Police trooper spotted the vehicle of a suspect in a Roxbury shooting, putting State troopers and Boston police on a high-speed chase. At 10:19 p.m. Monday, a State trooper saw a white 2023 GMC Acadia enter Dorchester from Quincy and flashed his lights at the vehicle, ordering the passengers to pull over for a murder investigation.
The driver, Kailyn Almeida, 23, of Bridgewater, accelerated and sped down Morrissey Boulevard to Day Boulevard into Castle Island. The chase reached speeds of 88 mph. The vehicle was damaged by a tire deflation device, but it continued to move slowly until the passengers got out to run. The two people who fled discarded a gun; they were apprehended by State troopers and Boston Police officers. The other passenger was Christopher Meade, 30, of Malden. It was discovered in their arraignment that the two have a child together.
Almeida is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, malicious destruction of property (hitting a Boston police cruiser,) speeding, marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, and trespassing with a vehicle. Almeida is held on $2,500 cash bail. She will appear again on January 12 for a probable cause hearing.
Meade is charged with distributing crack cocaine and possession of a firearm with three violent offenses. He is being held without bail. He will have a dangerousness hearing on December 18.
