The Super Bowl 58 welcome press conference had a surprise guest to welcome the NFL’s biggest game of the year to Las Vegas: Wayne Newton. Also known as “Mr. Las Vegas,” Newton welcomed the Super Bowl to Sin City.

Newton, an American singer who dominated the latter half of the 20th century, is a staple of Vegas. His popularity in the city ranks alongside legends like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley, making his appearance at the press conference fitting. With his deep ties to the Las Vegas community, Newton expressed his joy that the battle for the Lombardi Trophy will take place at Allegiant Stadium.

“The Super Bowl in Las Vegas is more than just a game: it’s a community,” Newton said with a smile.

With all the events occurring throughout the week – from the NFL Honors to the NFL Experience – Newton felt for fans who weren’t on the Strip. “They’re really missing something, you have to be here, you have to feel the heartbeat, you have to see how much people are thrilled with what’s going on.”

Super Bowl LVIII marks the first time in NFL history that a Super Bowl will be played in Las Vegas.
