How to view the Snow Moon in Boston this weekend

By Madison Lucchesi
The February full moon, also known as the Snow Moon, is set to peak on Friday night over Boston. The forecast shows no snow for the area this weekend, but the Snow Moon will appear.
The Snow Moon is visible from Thursday evening to Sunday morning. Peak visibility is from late Friday to early Saturday. For early birds, the best daytime visibility is Saturday at 5:41 PM.
The name Snow Moon originates from Native American tribes who named it for the heavy snowfall during the month of February. The Cherokee called it a Hungry Moon based on the lack of food during this month. The Snow Moon is also known as the Wolf Moon and many other names.
Out of the 12 full moons this year, the Snow Moon is farthest from Earth. Known as a micromoon, it will appear smaller than others.
Be sure to look up at the Snow Moon this weekend. In March, the full moon is the Worm Moon with peak visibility predicted to be on March 24th and 25th.
