With the NFL Draft a mere four weeks away, the Patriots front office is beginning to narrow down potential picks for their number three overall spot. A quarterback is the most notable possibility for New England, with QB Drake Maye being thrown in the mix.

During this year’s annual league meeting, first year head coach, Jerod Mayo reiterated the idea that the Pats are looking to take a quarterback at third overall.

Mayo specifically praised Drake Maye, stating “You can tell he has that leadership ability. Also, the exciting part about a guy like Drake Maye is the ceiling. Like, there is really no ceiling with a guy like that.”

Maye could do wonders with New England, though he isn’t the only possible fit. Aside from the UNC standout, New England has their eyes on reportedly five or six other draft prospects. LSU’s Jayden Daniels has reportedly been in the conversation.

Rumors have also implicated Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, though he is also being favored by the Giants, Vikings, and Commanders.

In his interview, Mayo also emphasized the importance of collecting draft picks, in the event that they don’t aim for a quarterback in the first round. With an impressive QB draft class, the Pats certainly have a number of options for their first pick.
