Longtime NESN host for Bruin’s broadcasts, Sophia Jurksztowicz has announced she is taking a leave of absence. Jurksztowicz is a fan favorite with the Boston Bruins, and her absence in preseason broadcasts has caused many to take notice.
In a post to social media on Tuesday, Jurksztowicz clarified her role with the network, stating, “I’m going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team… right now I just need to take time away from work.”
The Canadian native has been with NESN since August of 2019 and has quickly become popular among Bruins’ fans. As mentioned in her social media post, Jurksztowicz recently signed a new contract extension to continue hosting with NESN, despite being on leave.
Though the exact reason for her leave of absence has not been shared with the public, Jurksztowicz stated that it was due to personal reasons and that she would “be okay”. She also praised NESN in her social media post, thanking them for their support during her time away.
A NESN representative commented on the matter, wishing the veteran reporter well and imploring people to “respect Sophia’s privacy”. In the meantime, another NESN host, Adam Pellerin will step in until Jurksztowicz’s return.
