Republican Representative Liz Cheney joined Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday in Ripon, Wis.. The two were visiting The Little White Schoolhouse, commonly known as the “Birthplace of the GOP.” Their appearance together comes exactly one month after Cheney endorsed Harris during an event at Duke University.

“I have never voted for a Democrat, but this year, I am proudly casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris,” Cheney said. “I know that she loves our country, and I know that she will be a president for all Americans. As a conservative, as a patriot, as a mother, as someone who reveres our Constitution, I am honored to join her in this urgent cause.”

Both Harris and Cheney also took jabs at former President Donald Trump, with Cheney recalling Trump’s inactions during the Jan. 6 insurrection on the Capitol. Cheney, one of Trump’s fiercest critics, was the vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 panel, a promotion given to her by House Democrats.

“Violence does not and must never determine who rules us. Voters do,” Cheney emphasized.

“He refused to accept the will of the people and to accept the results of an election that was free and fair,” Harris told the crowd. “The President of the United States must not look at our country through the narrow lens of ideology or party partisanship or self-interest. Our nation is not some spoil to be won. The United States of America is the greatest idea humanity ever devised.”

Trump appeared on Fox News Channel Thursday night while campaign in Michigan, and addressed Harris and Cheney’s joint appearance, saying: “I think they hurt each other. I think they’re so bad, both of them.”

President Joe Biden—who returned to the White House after visiting states damaged by Hurricane Helene—also discussed Cheney’s appearance on the campaign trail.

“She made one of the most consequential speeches I’ve ever heard,” Biden said. “She has character…What she did not only took political courage, but physical courage.”

Following Wisconsin, Harris and her team visited Michigan Friday, stopping in Detroit this afternoon and Flint this evening. Meanwhile, the Trump campaign continued their bus tour across Georgia, making stops in Columbus, Macon and Athens.
