A New Hampshire police officer was injured following a hit-and-run along Route 101A Thursday morning, according to a statement by Amherst police.

The officer, Kyle Cordero, was part of a response to a previous rollover accident. As Amherst police worked to clear the scene, a truck drove through the crash site and struck low-hanging utility-wires, causing part of a telephone pole to fall. The pole struck Cordero in the legs and knocked him to the ground.

Cordero was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries and was released later that afternoon. Amherst police thanked the community for identifying the vehicle involved in the accident.

“We are relieved that Officer Cordero’s injuries are not serious and appreciate the swift response of Amherst EMS and Amherst Fire. This incident underscores the importance of drivers remaining alert and following traffic laws, especially in accident areas,” the statement concluded.

No suspects have been named, and the investigation remains ongoing.
