Christian Barmore, a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots has accused Providence
police officers for racially profiling him.

The 25-year-old was pulled over early Wednesday morning just before 1:00 am near Elmwood
Avenue. According to the Boston Globe’s report, Barmore’s Jeep Cherokee was pulled over
because of its extremely dark window tint and a distracting plate cover that was used over his
temporary registration. Both of these characteristics made it hard for officers to read the
information, causing alarm.

When police arrived at Barmore’s vehicle, he already had a negative attitude, handing over his
paperwork in an aggressive manner. Additionally, upon looking at his registration, it was found out that his license had even expired in early October. Because of this, his car needed to be searched and towed.

Following the altercation, Providence police released body camera footage of the traffic stop
where Barmore appeared agitated. In the clips, Barmore can be heard yelling expletives at
officers, telling them not to touch him, and claiming he was pulled over for no reason.
After Barmore’s belligerent actions, he took to X nearly twenty minutes later to condemn the
conduct of the Providence police. In the tweet, Barmore claims that he “just experienced for the
first time five Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at its finest.” This quote however
was soon deleted.

Jerod Mayo, the Patriot’s new head coach was asked about the incident during a press conference
just days after he addressed the news of Jabrill Peppers being placed on the Commissioner’s
Exempt List. While Mayo is aware of the situation, he encourages fans and the team to focus on
beating the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday in London.
