After Liam Payne’s death, former One Direction members show grief online

Liam Payne, former member of the boy band One Direction, was found dead in Buenos Aires after falling from a third floor balcony on Wednesday. Millions of fans grieved his death on social media alongside his four former band mates, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.

In a post made on Thursday by the four former members of One Direction, they commented that they felt “completely devastated” by Liam’s death and that they will speak more about his passing in the future, since now they are taking some time to grieve. 

Styles, Malik, Tomlinson and Horan all made posts on social media platforms communicating their feelings of grief after hearing the news of Payne’s passing. 

“The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life,” Styles wrote in his post, where he also uploaded a picture of Payne sitting and singing in his microphone in front of a crowded area.

Horan shared in his post an old picture from when they were younger and wrote, “All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through sadness.” 

“Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me,” said Malik.

A message to Payne was also addressed through Tomlinson’s post with him saying how he “will be the Uncle [to Payne’s son Bear] he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.”

Nonetheless, the mourning for Payne’s death wasn’t only limited to his family, with many fans gathering at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires and singing One Direction songs, showing their grief and how everyone was mourning their childhood, signified through the special place One Direction held in their hearts.
