Jayson Tatum’s MVP-caliber season is only getting better.

In the Celtics’ Saturday night victory against the Charlotte Hornets, Tatum accomplished a rather unique feat – adding to his already dominant regular season performance.

Through the first seven games, the NBA champ has recorded 212 points, 53 rebounds, and 32 assists. The first seven games of Larry Birds 1984-85 MVP season featured 216 points, 67 rebounds, and 40 assists stat line. 210+ points, 50+ rebounds, and 30+ triple-doubles is a multi-game stat line that has now only been achieved by Tatum and Bird.

This season, Tatum is fourth in the league in points averaged with 30 flat. He also sits with 7.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

The 26-year-old forward has been one of the many keys to the C’s success so far this season. Boston currently sits at 7-1, with a second place spot in the Eastern Conference and a third place spot in total league standings.

The Celtics are eyeing Finals repeat – and if they keep up the good work, they might just get it.

The road for Jayson Tatum and Boston continues tonight in a sure-fire competitive matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
