Taylor Swift is crowned the biggest artist of 2024!

It’s officially that time of the year again! Spotify Wrapped is back, an event that shares a
subscriber’s personalized roundup of songs. The occasion also named some of the biggest artists
who racked up the highest numbers.
Women dominated the year in music, with Taylor Swift being named the biggest global artist for
the second year in a row.
This is primarily because of her grammy nominated 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets
Department. The anthology achieved more than 26.6 billion streams, with each selection
surpassing 100 million streams each.
Swift also made headlines in 2024 because of her impactful Eras tour. The nearly 3 and
a half-hour concert went around the world being enjoyed and attended by millions of fans.
Meanwhile, other female artists including Sabrina Carpenter made an impression. Carpenter, who
released her breakthrough sixth album, Short ‘n Sweet topped the global songs chart with her
single “Espresso.”
Additionally, all five of the biggest-streamed albums were by women. While Swift and Carpenter
took the top and third spot, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft took second, Karol G’s Manama
Sera Bonita got fourth, and Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine rounded out the group.
Swift was also the most-streamed artist in both the UK and Canada, with Drake easily nabbing
the second spot despite his controversial legal actions. According to Drake both the Universal
Music Group and Spotify artificially inflated streams of “Not Like Us” a diss track made by
Kendrick Lamar.
The other artists in both categories were a mixed bag. Some included folk superstar Noah Kahan,
powerhouse Teddy Swims, and even the controversial Kanye West.
When it came to podcasts, the contestable Joe Rogan Experience took the number-one spot on
the global charts for the fifth consecutive year. However, this comes after Neil Young accused
Rogan of spreading disinformation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. Following it up is Alex
Cooper’s Call Her Daddy and This Past Weekend with Theo Von.
